The Summer thus far...

I have been very, very busy this summer (as usual). I am working on a project that keeps me on the road between Richmond and Charlotte, and there is little reason to think this will change any time soon.

We had a major Geocaching event in (the Richmond Rally 3) in Pocahontas State Park in early June. We had a couple of Hundred Geocachers from all over the state show up, and 13 new caches were placed in PSP. We had great door prizes, food, and even a way cool wireless network set up in the middle of the woods. It was a great event for all who attended.

Last weekend, we had an interesting opportunity to meet Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine. I do volunteer work for Friends of Pocahontas State Park, and since it was the 70th anniversary of Virginia's State Park system, I was asked to join him for a hike through the park. Charmaine, Adam (who was home for father's day) and Barkley accompanied us, and we had time to talk to him during our walk. He seems like a really down to earth guy, and although I don't agree with all of his policies, I am impressed with his conservation efforts. It was a unique experience walking with him and his entourage, which included a senator and delegates, as well as local elected officials. He gave a very poignant speech, and we all had cake and lemonaide afterwards.

We've completely changed all of our vacation plans, so instead of going to Ireland, we're now going on a cruise to Bermuda in July and to Cabo San Lucas in August. More to come on the trips as we get closer.

I hope to do better about posting throughout the summer!
